A Tribute to Our Founder, Mr. A.K. Mylsamy

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we write this tribute to our beloved founder, Mr. A.K. Mylsamy — a guiding light, a man of impeccable integrity, and the heart and soul of our firm. His passing leaves a void that words can scarcely fill, but his legacy lives on in every corner of our workplace, in every mind he shaped, and in every heart he touched.

Mr. Mylsamy was more than just the founder of our firm. To many of us, he was a mentor, a quiet force of strength, and most importantly, a colleague in the truest sense of the word. He never once allowed hierarchy to get in the way of camaraderie. He never called us juniors — always colleagues. He believed in us, stood beside us, and lifted us with quiet confidence. And in doing so, he inspired generations of lawyers to believe in themselves too.

Those of us who had the honour of working alongside him know just how patient and generous he was with his time and wisdom. No question was too small, no mistake too trivial to be corrected with kindness. Whether you were fresh out of law school or years into your practice, he made you feel seen, valued, and respected.

His love for the law was infectious. There was not a legal journal he hadn’t read, not a new case law he didn’t dissect with insight. He would pore over books with the same reverence that most reserve for scripture — and in many ways, for him, the law was sacred. His ability to understand the spirit of a statute and the pulse of a courtroom was unmatched. We watched in awe as he argued with such clarity and persuasion — never raising his voice, never losing his temper — yet always commanding the room. He taught us that dignity is not sacrificed for success; rather, it strengthens it.

Even as the founder, he never stood apart from us. He arrived at the office before any of us, always the first to switch on the lights, and he stayed the latest, pouring over files long after the rest of us had left. And despite the weight of his responsibilities, he was always accessible. A knock on his door was never met with irritation — only warmth. A doubt was never brushed aside, but patiently explained.

He was gentle in speech, graceful in conduct, and resolute in principle. His humility disarmed us, his kindness anchored us, and his brilliance guided us. He was the kind of leader who never needed to command respect — he earned it, every single day.

As we grieve the loss of our dear founder, we also celebrate the life he led — a life devoted to the law, to learning, and to lifting others. The values he stood for will continue to live through us: his sense of discipline, his relentless pursuit of excellence, his unmatched work ethic, and above all, his humanity.

Thank you, Sir, for everything. You have not just built a firm — you have built a family. And your light will continue to shine in the halls you walked, in the books you loved, and in the hearts of every one of us lucky enough to have worked with you.

With love, respect, and eternal gratitude,

Your colleagues at A.K. Mylsamy & Associates LLP
