Worth a Thought?

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is being present in the moment without getting carried away.

When was the last time you felt the moment you were in, without your thoughts meandering in multiple directions? The daily pace of life has made it nearly impossible to experience moments. As a race, humans seem to have forgotten the subtle art of mindfulness – an overused word, an under-utilized experience.

Mindfulness is being present in the moment without getting carried away. It is being loyal and focused to thoughts, feelings and sensations of that moment and not thinking of what is coming next.

The best way to cultivate mindfulness is through meditation. It is assimilating yourself in experiencing every moment for a certain time. This not only improves focus but brings in a sense of calm and clarity. Scientifically and spiritually, meditation is proven to reduce stress and anxiety.

Acceptance and letting go are key aspects of developing mindfulness. When one sees things as they are in a situation, it leads to acceptance. Thereafter, it becomes easy to let go of the feeling of wanting to control the situation. One just goes with the flow.

Systematic practice and commitment enable a person become more mindful. It is a powerful tool for overall self-development. Take a deep breath and begin the journey towards a more mindful you!
