The Supreme Court had passed a judgment detailing circumstances when time will be essence of a contract.
The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 is a much-needed law to curb malpractices in public examinations.
The Highseas Treaty 2023 is the modified version of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 that governs protection of marine life and seas.
India is a land of treasures, but if you look around you may just find a treasure yourself!
The Indian Treasure Trove Act 1878 is an archaic law enacted in India during the rule of kings and monarchs with loads of treasure. Though the rule of kings passed on, the Act is still in existence.
The Act makes it mandatory for any person discovering a treasure whose value is Rs. 10 or more to report it to the government or face penalty! This is because items of value shall be considered ‘treasures’ and logically such treasures should belong to the government.
The next time you find a 10 rupee note, please report it to the nearest police station or face action!
Speaking up in a meeting, taking up a new assignment or even making new friends can be nerve wracking and anxious. This involves coming out of one’s comfort zone.
Comfort zone is not physical demarcated area. It is a psychological boundary defined by familiarity and sense of safety. A zone with minimal risk and maximum ease. One wonders what the fuss is about having to push one’s boundaries when things are in a consistently comfortable (s)pace.
Doing what one knows is important so long as one’s knowledge expands. When there is limited knowledge, there is little growth both personally and professionally. The gap between what one knows and what one must do new is the discomfort zone. It is like leaping into the unknown. The only way to cushion the leap is through knowledge. Taking consistent small steps can help deal with coming out of the comfort zone. Fear of not being judged by own or others can help mitigate the sense of anxiety. The next time a new challenge comes up, take it up. Over time, the world will become your comfort zone. Worth a thought?
