The German Pillow Law

Up for a pillow fight? Beware! you could face assault charges in Germany

In Germany, a pillow is seen as a type of weapon that can be used in a fight. If someone uses a pillow in a physical altercation, they could face assault charges. This shows that Germany takes physical confrontations seriously and has strict rules about what can be considered a weapon.

Transition: Challenging but not Impossible

Transition is the alter ego of change

Change is constant. How we respond to that change is transition. Transition is never easy, just like change.
Transitioning from school to college, adolescence to adulthood, education to career, jobs in career, coupling, uncoupling, raising a family, losing elders, empty nest syndrome, losing one’s own self… the list is as long as life is! One thing is certain -there is transition at every stage.
Any transition triggers a strong under-current of emotions – sense of uncertainty, unknown leading to fear of failure, apprehension to adapt to the new situation or circumstance. There is a constant tussle between choosing the safety of comfort zone vis a vis the spirit and adventure of something new. Humans tend to be overtly self-critical and expect to transition (internally) as fast as change (external). The process of transitioning can be made less challenging by being kind to oneself. It is important to time and space to emotionally accept the fact of change. Cultivating mindfulness can help put change into perspective. Loving family and friends can be the backbone and coping mechanism while transitioning in life. Perhaps the biggest coping mechanism – not to be hard on oneself.

Lao Tzu sums it up beautifully – “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
